Ski Season Now in High Gear - Best Skiing is in March

Ski families can make great use of the Hotel Coolidge. This past week I spoke with a Dad who was choosing the Hotel Coolidge as a sleep over enroute with his family from Boston to Stowe on Friday night. For them it makes an early rise on Saturday morning that much easier and... the rates here are lower than ...Stowe!

Hartford and Boston area families are finding that the economy and the comforts of the Hotel Coolidge are a good fit when skiing at either Okemo or Mt Sunapee. Some families staying with us ski one day at each!

The Gilbert Family Celebrate Kasey Mae Gilbert

Kasey Mae Gilbert is celebrated in the Vermont Room at the Hotel Coolidge. Tiny Kasey Mae Gilbert was baptized at St. Anthony’s Church in White River Junction this past Saturday morning. Thirty members of her family brought her to the Hotel for a luncheon following the event. Here’s a picture of her and her happy Mom. The Gilbert family has called on the Hotel Coolidge over the years for bridal showers and now a baptismal celebration! Kasey will reside with her Mom and Dad on Maple Street in White River Junction.

Aquatic Center Families Enjoy Hotel Coolidge Lodging

Upper Valley Aquatic Center http://www.uvac-swim.org/ opened and has now had its first major swim meet. Hundreds of competitors streamed into the region this past weekend to enjoy. The Upper Valley Aquatic Center is Northern New England's premier aquatic and fitness center, featuring state-of-the-art swimming pools, wellness programs and an indoor splash park. It is open to the public and conveniently located at the junction of Interstates 89 and 91 in White River Junction, Vermont. The Hotel Coolidge is a “Preferred Hotel” for visitors and also will be offering coupons for Day Passes to hotel guests to have a swim or use the fitness center there.

The Hotel Coolidge hosted its first swim families coming to the Aquatic Center and they were able to enjoy the comforts of our lobby and our fireplace between events. Our Junior Suites were well received as swimmers could read, watch TV and catch a nap while Mom and Dad had their own space too.

Swim families enjoyed the Village of White River Junction and the opportunity to take short walks in and out of the hotel without having to get back in their car. One father got his hair cut as a walk-in at Classy Cuts while his daughter enjoyed a pizza delivered to the hotel from C&S Pizza. Later they browsed Revolution Vintage Clothing www.whiteriverjunction.org/

Thinking of a Family Reunion???

Vermont in the summer is an undersung destination.  Its actually warmed up enough to peel away the long johns that we have worn 24-7 since November and all the attractions are open.  So think about a family rendezvous and use the Hotel Coolidge as your hub.  Here's an example of what we did last year....the family of a retired Central Vermont RR engineer brought him here to White River Junction for his 80th birthday gathering.  On Friday night after checking in to the hotel they "bought out" the famous Polka Dot Diner, piled in and had Mary cook up the best short orders ever.  On Saturday the various members split up according to their interests and had a day with Billings Farm, Montshire Museum of Science and we led group of them on inner tubes from up stream on the pristine White River back to the hotel.  That evening we hosted them up in the Jericho District where we have an idyllic meadow and did a bar-b-que for them complete with bonfire.  Stories and songs went on until after dark.  The man was really pleased with his 80th birthday surrounded by family back in Vermont one more time.  Sunday they gathered in our Vermont Room for a farewell brunch which we catered for them
